Sindh Schools’ Summer Vacation Extended: A Call for More Proactive Weather Assessment

The Sindh government has extended the summer vacation for all public and private schools in the province until August 14.

This decision, made by the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department, considers the ongoing heatwave and anticipated monsoon rains. However, critics argue that this decision should have been taken earlier, as weather forecasts had already predicted warm temperatures and expected rains. This delay in action highlights the need for the government to be more proactive in addressing such issues to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.

Despite the extension, co-curricular activities related to Independence Day on August 14 will proceed as planned.

Previously, summer vacations started on June 1 and were initially set to end on July 31, as decided by the sub-committee of the steering committee in their meeting on January 25.
