Imran Khan Eyes Oxford Chancellor Position Amid Legal Battles

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail, has announced his candidacy for the position of Chancellor at the University of Oxford. This move is significant given his ongoing legal battles, including charges of corruption and incitement of violence. The position became vacant following the resignation of Lord Patten, who served for 21 years.

Khan, an alumnus of Keble College at Oxford, studied Economics and Politics there in 1972 and captained the university's cricket team. He previously served as the Chancellor of Bradford University from 2005 to 2014. His competition includes former British Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson.

The Chancellor of Oxford University is a ceremonial role, with responsibilities such as presiding over major ceremonies. For the first time, the election will be conducted online, allowing the university's vast alumni network to participate.
